What is water activated gummed paper tape?
Water activated gummed paper tape is a packaging tape made from kraft paper with a water-activated adhesive. When moistened, the adhesive forms a strong, permanent bond with cardboard surfaces.
Is this tape environmentally friendly?
Yes, itโs made from renewable kraft paper and uses a natural starch-based adhesive. Itโs 100% recyclable and compostable, making it ideal for sustainable packaging.
What tape materials do you offer?
We offer both reinforced and non-reinforced gummed tapes. Our gummed tapes are made from strong kraft paper with water-activated adhesive for secure sealing. Reinforced gummed tape includes fiberglass strands for extra strength and durability, while non-reinforced tape provides reliable sealing with a smooth finish.
What is the difference between reinforced and non-reinforced tape?
Reinforced tape contains fiberglass strands embedded within the paper, providing extra strength, tear resistance, and durability โ ideal for heavy or bulky packages.
Non-reinforced tape is made of plain kraft paper without added fibers, offering reliable sealing for lighter packages with a smoother finish.
How strong is water activated gummed tape compared to plastic tape?
Water activated tape forms a much stronger bond than most standard plastic tapes. Once applied, it securely seals boxes and resists tampering, making it suitable for heavier packages and long shipments.
What colours are available for the tape?
Various colors are available for our custom printed gummed tape, with white and kraft brown recommended as the best base for clear printing. Choose from a range of standard colors, or select custom colors at no extra cost to perfectly match your brand.
What are your sizing options?
Our online ordering offers tape widths of 36mm, 48mm, and 72mm, with each roll 50 metres long. For other sizes options, please contact us at marketing@omnigroup.com.au.
Do I need a dispenser to use gummed tape?
Yes, water activated tape needs to be moistened to activate the adhesive. We recommend using a tape dispenser designed specifically for gummed paper tape to apply it easily and efficiently.
Can I recycle boxes with this tape still attached?
Unlike plastic tape, water activated paper tape doesnโt need to be removed from cartons prior to recycling. It can be processed along with cardboard during recycling.

How does the approval process work?
Once we receive your artwork, our in-house designers will apply it to the tape template and send it to you for sign-off. You can have your artwork ready for approval in a matter of hours. It's that easy!
What files do you require?
Our online customiser accepts PDF, PSD, AI, and EPS (vector) files. If you donโt have a vector file, you can upload a JPG or PNG of your logo and weโll contact you to help convert it for printing.
How do I know if my artwork is printable?
Our downloadable guide will assist you in what can and can't be printed however, our team will assist in cases such as your artwork being low resolution, containing blurry lines or bleeds are incorrect.
How quickly can I get my printed tape?
