Why you need a packaging audit

More wraps do not mean a better load

A pallet can look securely wrapped from the warehouse floor, but that does not always mean the load is properly contained. Many sites are overwrapping pallets to compensate for inefficient film, incorrect machine settings or poor wrap patterns. In many cases, they simply mean more plastic, higher costs and longer wrapping times.

Common issues we find on site

Six of the most frequent

Poor load containment

Loads keep shifting, even after trying different films and suppliers.

Overwrapping pallets

Extra wraps added to make up for underperforming film or incorrect settings.

Rising costs

Film usage, roll changeovers and machine maintenance all climbing.

Machine downtime

Frequent stoppages and pre-stretch that is not performing as it should.

No supplier reporting

Little or no visibility of actual film usage or performance.

Pressure to cut plastic

A mandate to reduce, without accurate data or a clear starting point.

The audit

How do we conduct a packaging audit, and what is our Cut & Weigh?

A Cut & Weigh is an on-site test that measures how much stretch wrap is being used on each pallet and what it is costing you. We wrap a pallet using your current film and settings, test the load containment force, then cut off and weigh the film. We repeat the same process using our recommended film and settings.

This gives you a clear comparison of film usage, cost per pallet, load containment and potential annual savings, including how much plastic could be removed from your operation.

Cut & Weigh on site

Wrap, test containment, cut, weigh. Twice, side by side, on your own pallets.

The Cut & Weigh process broken down

Five steps
  1. 01

    Assessment

We review your current film, machine settings, wrap patterns and containment force to build a baseline of exactly what's being used today.

  2. 02

    Cut & Weigh on-site

We wrap a pallet your way, then the same pallet with our recommended film and settings, measuring load force and film weight for both.

  3. 03

    Calculate & compare

Using your real pallet volumes, we project the annual cost, film usage and waste difference between your current setup and ours.

  4. 04

    Recommendations

You get a written report: film type, machine settings, and where automation or a machine change would add further savings.

  5. 05

    Ongoing monitoring

Monthly reviews and usage tracking keep the numbers honest, so savings hold up long after the audit is done.
